Duties Description The New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applicants for an Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: • Web application development leveraging technologies such as Java and Javascript;• Application development using the ABSuite development toolset;• Low-code platform development and administration;• API development and integration support;• Backend database design and maintenance using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL; and/or• UX design and frontend development using Javascript, CSS, SASS, and HTML (e.g., Bootstrap, VueJS)In addition to working in one or more of the above areas, these positions will be expected to: • Supervise and mentor IT Specialist 2 staff;• Document systems and ensure efficient work tracking leveraging the department's project management tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, and Git;• Have working knowledge of modern application development methodologies, including continuous integration, peer review using code reviews, and agile development; and• Collaborate with program offices and IT staff to understand, document, and implement business requirements.
