The individual in this position will carry out routine duties to teach cosmetology, nail technology, and esthetics to students using various teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations. Job Duties
- Follows performance-based objectives and outlines for courses of study according to curriculum guidelines and state and federal requirements.
- Organizes practical and technical instruction programs, including skill demonstrations required in the cosmetology professions, and lectures on theory, techniques, and terminology; prepares instructional program outlines and assembles materials to be presented.
- Instructs students in subject areas such as the use, maintenance, and safe operation of tools and equipment, as well as codes or regulations related to the Cosmetology Program.
- Teaches students the importance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits for gaining employment as cosmetologists.
- Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate student achievement in technical knowledge and practical skills.
- Maintains records of daily attendance and student progress; reports to Lead Instructor and Registrar.
- Presents subject matter using various methods and techniques, such as lectures, discussions, or demonstrations; ensures classroom time is organized for instruction and clean-up (if applicable).
- Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts; responds to basic student questions; may initiate study groups for exam preparation.
- Enforces classroom protocols, rules, and regulations; maintains classroom discipline; uses effective classroom management techniques.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required by Lead Instructor, Program Chair, or Director of Education; participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development workshops.
- Files an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught with the relevant Program Chair.
- Conducts class evaluations and completes other college evaluations according to college policy.
- Makes suggestions to the Program Chair regarding curriculum improvement aligned with college objectives.
- Completes annual goal setting and performance reviews with the Program Chair, approved by the Director of Education.

- Cosmetology licensure through the applicable state board is required.
- Cosmetology Instructor’s License is required.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist familiar with all industry aspects.
- Experience performing facial treatments, body treatments, and other skincare services to include removal treatments, including waxing and laser procedures a plus.
- Some level of teaching or training experience is preferred.
- Ability to formulate and articulate policies, procedures, expectations, and practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
