Base Child Care

Hours: 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm Monday- Friday

JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL: The person selected for this position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of class of up to 20 children between the ages of three and twelve years. All staff report directly to the sites Director for room assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS: The person selected for this position must be at least nineteen years of age, a high school graduate, and meet the educational/experience qualifications listed below. This person must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the educational philosophy of Base Child Care. They should also be willing to continue their professional development through enrolling in early childhood classes or trainings to meet their annual training requirements of 20 hours each year.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Thirty semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with six semester hours (or nine quarter hours) related to school-age child care, child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, camping or other related fields; or
2) 1560 clock hours of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care
center serving school-age children or a license exempt school-age child care
program operated by a public or private school, and six semester hours (or
nine quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university related
to school-age child care, child development, elementary education, physical
education, recreation, camping or other related fields; or
3) A high school diploma or equivalency certificate plus 3120 clock hours of
experience in a recreational program, kindergarten, or licensed day care
center serving school-age children or a license exempt school-age child care
program operated by a public or private school.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Planning and implementing the daily program under direction of the site director;
- Execute meal service, general sanitization of classroom, maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom
- Maintaining accurate meal and attendance records;
- Plan and prepare the learning environment -setting up materials for lesson plans, and preparing needed supplies;
- Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the program at all times;
DESCRIPTION:
- Treating all children with dignity and respect;
- Supervising children inside and outside, including, but not limited to the playground, gym and classroom activities;
- Maintain an orderly learning environment;
- Provide individual and small-group instruction in learning activities;
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and data;
- Communicate with parents and refer all parental concerns to the Site Director;
- Attend all staff meetings and recommended and mandated trainings to meet annual requirements of 20 hours each year;
- Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position; and,
- Any other duties as assigned by Director/Administrator.
REPORTS TO: Director and/or Administrator
Hourly: $14-$18 per hour -commensurate on education and experience
