What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist - Autism/Low Incidence position at Education Service Center Region 12?
Job Description
To support the vision, mission and strategic priorities of ESC Region 12 and to provide training in the following areas to Region 12 educators to further meet the needs of students receiving special education services:
- Develop and provide professional development to ESC Region 12 educators in the areas of Autism and Low Incidence Disabilities
- Provide technical assistance and instructional coaching with evidence-based best practices
- Keep Region 12 educators abreast of current trends and issues related to students with special needs
- Participate in TEA-mandated network grant activities
Education/Certification
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Special Education
- Master's degree in relevant area preferred
- Experience in public education in special education with an emphasis in Autism and Low Incidence
- At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders, evidence-based practices, and autism research
- Knowledge of Low Incidence Disabilities
- Thorough knowledge of special education law, curriculum and instruction
- Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills
- Positive attitude, self-starter, and team player
- Customer service focus
