The Powell Law Group is excited to collaborate with the Mount Calm ISD in their search for a new superintendent. Dr. Shaun Barnett will be conducting the search process.
COMMUNITY INFORMATION
Mount Calm, Texas, is located on State Highway 31 and Farm Road 339, twenty-five miles south of Hillsboro and 15 miles east of Waco in south central Hill County. Mount Calm is a rural community that is conveniently nestled in close proximity to Hillsboro, Waco, and Corsicana.
The country-side landscape lends itself to creating a very warm and close community, while still providing access to mid-city conveniences. The community, which consists of small businesses, churches, and households, is very supportive of the school district.
DISTRICT AND CAMPUS INFORMATION
Mount Calm ISD is a Pk-12th grade, 1A school district that is Title I. The district enrollment is 170 students. With the recent addition of a new gymnasium and upcoming cafeteria renovations, the school district is poised for growth and sustainability in the future. Mount Calm ISD has continued to close achievement gaps, increased CTE and dual credit opportunities, participated in outstanding grant awards, grown a robust athletic department, and made great strides in increasing student achievement.
Mount Calm ISD Candidate Profile Qualifications: The district seeks a candidate who has:
•a valid Superintendent Certificate from Texas is preferred.
•at least five years of classroom teaching experience and a successful tenure as a campus-level principal and/or central office administrator required, superintendent experience preferred.
•a strong knowledge of budgeting, Chapter 49 public school finance, and an understanding of the importance of being fiscally conservative. Grant writing experience is a plus.
•a strong background in student performance success in all areas, including dual credit education, career and technical readiness programs.
•strong family values with integrity and exemplary moral character, along with excellent people skills.
•a strong commitment to open communication between the administration, the board, faculty, staff, and community.
•shown maturity, stability, and willingness to stay in a district for five or more years.
•experience in working with a diverse student population, including rural and economically disadvantaged students.
•a strong desire to be a part of the community and an understanding of the importance of extra-curricular activities and community events.
•a strong belief in accountability for the administration, faculty, and staff, and will put positive student outcomes above all.
•a willingness to hire, train, and promote the best staff possible and to develop leaders within the district.
•experience in construction and successful implementation of a bond project is a plus.
•high expectations for Mount Calm ISD students, faculty, and staff, and the desire to take a great school and make it even better.
•a willingness to live in the community, or in the surrounding area.
Salary/Benefits:
•Salary is commensurate with experience and success in a 1A district in Region 12.
•Travel, benefits, and contract are commensurate with regional ranges.
•Moving Expenses: Reasonable moving expenses may be negotiated.
