Job Summary (Primary Purpose):
The contracted English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) 7-12 Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for designing high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum, creating engaging content, and developing assessments to prepare candidates for success on the (331) TExES English Language Arts and Reading 7-12 content exam. This role includes writing curriculum materials aligned to the test framework and designing practice assessments that reflect the exam's rigor and expectations.

Required Qualifications (Experience & Education/Certificates):
- Extensive knowledge of English Language Arts and Reading content and pedagogy for Grades 7-12.
- Experience in curriculum writing, content development, and assessment creation.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Current or previous teaching certification in English Language Arts and Reading 7-12 in Texas is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the TExES English Language Arts and Reading 7-12 exam and its competencies.
- Proficiency in developing online learning materials and digital content.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and teacher preparation programs.
- Experience with online learning platforms and instructional design tools.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Develop high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum materials for English Language Arts and Reading, Grades 7-12.
- Create engaging and interactive online content that supports candidates' understanding of key concepts and competencies tested on the TExES exam.
- Design and develop practice assessments, including multiple-choice questions, written responses, and other formats, aligned to the TExES English Language Arts and Reading 7-12 exam framework.
- Ensure all content reflects best practices in teaching English Language Arts and Reading and adheres to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including program coordinator, cohort specialist and online learning specialist to ensure content meets program goals and candidate needs.
- Review and revise curriculum and assessments based on feedback, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with exam standards.
- Stay informed about updates to the TExES ELAR 7-12 exam framework and other relevant state or national education standards.
