What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director position at Educational Day School Program?
We are a non-profit private day school serving no more than 15 students in grades 6th-12th from surrounding counties. Our school hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. We provide educational programs for students with differing abilities, ensuring that students and families have access to a network of community supports. We find creative solutions to complex needs of students through a whole-person approach. Our school is often referred to as having a "family" feel. Board Relations
- Works with the Board in order to fulfill the organization’s mission.
- Responsible for leading in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to make informed decisions.
Organization Mission and Strategy
- Works with the Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
- Responsible for implementation of programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
- Responsible for the enhancement of the school's image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
Organization Operations
- Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent and qualified staff, staff assignments, job descriptions, training and professional development, staff evaluations, and dismissal if necessary.
- Ensures the organization’s programs are in compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to program operations.
- Works collaboratively with Administrative team to manage day-to-day operation of the special education program; Executive Director is the chief administrative director of day school operations and shall work collaboratively with the Instructional Leader and the Office Manager to ensure adequate supervision of the day school program, management of the facility and transportation during school related activities.
- Coordinates with Instructional Leader regarding student IEP’s and feedback to case managers regarding goals and levels of performance.
- Maintains an on-going relationship with placing school divisions regarding students’ academic needs.
Professional Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in human services and administration
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience
- A degree in Social Work, Special Education, School Administration, Human Services, Counseling or a related field is required
- Active teaching license in Special Education or actively pursuing license
- Transparent and high integrity leadership
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
- Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
