Athletic Groundskeeper - 2-positions available

Terms of employment in accordance with the OAPSE negotiated agreement

• Compensation: Starting hourly rate of $16.12 per hour

• Contracted Days: 260-day calendar; 8 hours per day with paid 1/2-hour lunch
• Scheduled hours: Flexible hours with rotating shifts to accommodate the Athletic Department Schedule
• Report to: Athletic Director and/or administrative designee

Qualifications:

• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping and general maintenance work
• Aptitude and physical capability of performing laborious physical tasks
• Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects of at least 50 lbs.
• Proper use of ladders and lifts; must be able to tolerate heights
• Able to work outside during all seasons in all types of weather conditions
• Must be able to work a flexible time schedule, and be available Saturdays and evenings throughout the year including summer months to cover various scheduled events including holidays when necessary
• Work during all home athletic events during the school year
• Attend and work all District, Regional, and State sponsored tournaments and events held at the Austintown Schools facilities
• Knowledge of athletics, track, field and court requirements necessary for team performance
• Must be able to use and maintain a paint machine
• Physically capable of performing all job duties that may include but are not limited to lifting, bending, stooping, stretching and moving of heavy objects
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team; self-motivated

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Preparation of playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for athletic and other school activities
• Receiving, storing and issuing of all maintenance and grounds material, supplies and equipment
• Maintain a coordinated inventory control program for all areas of the department
• Maintain and when necessary move the helmet cam
• Cleanup and removal of trash after all home sporting events held at the Austintown School facilities
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations and Facilities Supervisor, Athletic Director, Superintendent and/or designee

REQUIREMENTS TO BE ON FILE BEFORE A SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT CAN BEGIN WORK:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Favorable BCII (State) and FBI (Federal) background checks.
• Negative drug screen result
• Successful completion of skills test.

A skills test will be administered over the areas related to the position.
