: PERFORMING ARTS TECHNICAL COORDINATOR JOB# ESC 2526-1

Reports to: Assigned administrator/supervisor

Job Objective: Performs a wide range of technical production and oversees technical coordination duties.

Minimum Qualifications: ·

  • High school diploma or GED. Maintenance skills verified by training and relevant work experience.
  • Holds/maintains a valid Ohio driver’s license. Qualifies to be covered by the district’s vehicle insurance policy. Demonstrates a steadfast commitment to defensive driving practices.
  • A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) may be required as a condition of employment.
  • Available to work a non-traditional schedule and irregular hours when needed.
  • Basic computer proficiency or commitment to promptly acquire job-related technology skills.
  • Embraces high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.).
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.
  • Preferred Attributes: Effective interpersonal skills. Conscientious and self-directed.
Physical Demand Level1 Heavy strength (frequently lifting/carrying 50 lbs.). Duties require communicating verbally, crouching, far/near visual acuity, fine/gross manipulation, operating a motor vehicle, reaching at or below shoulder height and overhead, standing/walking, stooping, using a ladder or work platform, and working with hand/power tools.

Essential Functions:

1. Coordinates technical and manual skills required to support a wide range of performing arts productions and technical operations.

  • Identifies work priorities to address tasks requiring immediate attention.
  • ?Performs carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, and other set design duties. Prepares equipment and ensures safety standards are clearly communicated and followed by staff and students.
  • Monitors work performed by outside vendors to ensure compliance with district specifications and safety protocols.
  • Follows all health and safety guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials and biohazards, and complies with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) procedures. Seeks guidance when unsure about product use, storage, or disposal.
  • Maintains accurate records and tracks resources, materials, and activities as directed.
  • Constructs scenery and provides technical support for Academy productions, including lighting, sound, projections, and rigging systems. Serves as a designer in an assigned area of expertise.
  • Supports technical theatre instruction by participating as a guest artist and mentoring students in courses such as Stagecraft, Lighting Design, Practicum, and Specialty Topics.
  • Coordinates daily scheduling and use of Performing Arts Center (PAC) facilities, including instructional and performance spaces. Ensures spaces are safe, clean, and operational.
  • Collaborates with district maintenance and custodial staff for routine and annual facility upkeep. Oversees PAC technology upgrades and capital improvement projects.
  • Provides technical support and audio-visual setup for school and district events held in the PAC, including events such as graduation. Coordinates and supervises technical staffing for internal functions and facility rentals.
  • Partners with CFHS staff and contracted designers to meet technical needs for drama and musical productions.
  • Manages the offsite storage facility, ensuring inventory of scenic, prop, and technical equipment is organized, maintained, and stored safely.
  • Mentors student designers, technicians, and stage managers through the production process, ensuring a professional, safe, and educational experience.
  • Assists with Academy recruitment and outreach efforts, providing technical and logistical support for events such as Opportunity Day, Open House, Interview Day, Callbacks, touring shows, career days, and facility tours.

  • Keeps current with standards and practices associated with work duties.

  • Complies with health and safety protocols to mitigate workplace risks.
  • Protects district property. Take precautions to prevent the loss of equipment and supplies.
  • Takes action to address harassment or aggressive behavior. Complies with all legal statutes when dealing with discrimination, inappropriate behavior, or suspected child abuse/neglect.

6. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

  • Helps implement district strategies to advance organizational goals.

Performance Evaluation: Employee performance is evaluated according to applicable law, board policies, contractual agreements, and district administrative procedures.

Performing tasks that require complex sequencing, dexterity, strength, stamina, etc.
Traveling to meetings and work assignments.
Working at heights, in confined spaces, or under diminished/variable lighting.
