Assignment:
We are recruiting for a Speech Language Pathologist to serve the Methow Valley School District for the 2025-26 school year. This position is .61081 FTE/113 days per year, school year schedule.
- Inform principals, teachers and other school personnel of speech, language and/or hearing services.
- Organize and conduct an identification program for communication disorders by utilizing screening criteria, materials, procedures and record-keeping strategies.
- Select and employ diagnostic procedures and develop guidelines for a comprehensive remediation program.
- Establish criteria for caseload selection and dismissal.
- Select and implement therapy strategies for modifying communicative behavior of each student with a speech, language and/or hearing disorder.
- Maintain a system to record all identification and evaluative data and continuous student performance information.
- Identify and define factors which determine the effectiveness of therapy. Redefine goals and modify therapy strategies consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or the individual family service plan (IFSP).
- Consult with parents, educators and other professionals regarding needs of children/students to assure appropriate learning experiences.
- Complete all required reports and records for compliance within statutory guidelines.
- Provide technical assistance to communication technicians and assistants.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Hold or eligible to hold a Washington ESA speech language pathologist certificate.
- Completed all requirements for a master's degree with a major in speech pathology (except special project or thesis).
- Experience working with children with articulation and language disabilities.
- Experience in the identification, assessment, programming and evaluation of children with language disabilities.
- Master's degree in speech or speech pathology.
- Experience in P-12 education.
- Experience working with Washington state and federal laws relating to children with disabilities.
- Travel within ESD 112 Special Education ESA service region.
- May be assigned to more than one school building/district.
- Successful completion of a criminal history fingerprint check through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
