QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
- Master’s degree in education or related field preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a K-12 education system preferred
- Leadership experience or project management preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL(S):
Performs the full range of professional duties required to support the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department and the Office of Professional Development and Coaching, including the performance of complex and/or sensitive activities; managing large-scale, long-term projects; and performs related duties as required or assigned.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and supervises the multifaceted activities to support the Office of Professional Development and Coaching in direct collaboration with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and the Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Plays a key role in developing strategies for achieving the goals contained within the Iowa City Community School District Strategic Plan and is accountable for outcomes.
- Assists the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with the planning of department policy and short- and long-term objectives.
- Leads projects, and may allocate resources - physical, fiscal, and human
- Contributes expertise to the Office of Professional Development and Coaching and can serve as a departmental resource for administration and teaching staff.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and expertise in the design of professional development and coaching, working to further district goals.
- Provides relevant resources and models to teachers in the area of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management and equitable practice.
- Collaborates with various district teams in order to align support for the key initiatives and goals of the district and schools.
- Assists and supports coordination of professional development for Curriculum Content Leads across different buildings and the District.
- Communicates and maintains positive relationships with district staff and community.
- Collaboratively organizes and supports the District’s new teacher mentoring program including teacher assignments, professional learning, and guidance.
- Provides support for District curriculum leads at the elementary, secondary, and K-12 levels
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Year Round Position - Salary and calendar year to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy of the Iowa City Community School District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
