JOB SUMMARY
The rewards of being a Reading/Math Interventionist are immeasurable: This position seeks a passionate teacher with a proven track record of improving student outcomes. The K-8 Interventionist is a master teacher of small group intervention instruction. The focus of the interventionist is to instruct a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the gaps in reading and/or math. The goal of the interventionist is to support the RTI or MTSS process and prevent students from being placed in other support services.

As their interventionist you are responsible for developing student success by creating an environment that is favorable to learning and personal growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of scientifically based reading and math instruction.
- Understands the purpose and specifics of core reading and math programs.
- Understands and effectively uses direct, explicit, and systematic reading and math instruction that is aligned with scientifically based research.
- Understands and interprets assessment data, both formal and informal, to use when making instructional decisions and with student grouping.
- Ensures that instructional decisions are based on analysis.
- Designs effective intervention lessons.
- Frequently monitors progress of students receiving intervention services and makes proper adjustments to instructional practice and student grouping.
- Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers about alignment between classroom instruction and intervention.
- Attends appropriate trainings and seminars.
- Supports the site level intervention plan through facilitation and/or participation at in-services, grade level team meetings, and staff meetings.
- Collaborates with technical assistance providers.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certification with approved area/endorsement.
- Level One IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in related subject content area.
- Three (3) years of experience in K-8 instruction.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in teaching diverse learners.
- Demonstrated experience workings with children having difficulty learning.
- Experience working with individual teachers and site-based teams.

- Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
- Writing general correspondence and practicing effective speaking with others.
- Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Principles and practices of program administration.
- Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
- Best practices, trends and emerging technologies.
- Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
- Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.

- Applying reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
- Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
- Performing basic research to assist with developing teaching plans and instructional manuals.
- Maintaining and updating documentation.
- Organizing and maintaining records, files and program information.
- Gathering data, analyzing findings and applying logic and reason.
- Authoring and preparing original reports, documents and presentations.
- Researching industry trends, solutions and best practices.
- Maintaining confidentiality.
