The Corporate Environment, Health, Safety and Security Specialist performs a variety of safety and security functions under the direction of the Corporate Environment, Health, Safety and Security Manager to ensure a safe and secure work environment for employees, contractors, visitors, assets, and property at ETS.
Under the direction of the Corporate Environment, Health, Safety and Security Manager, the CEHSS Specialist guides, develops, and implements all safety and security policies and programs designed to increase the effectiveness of ETS Corporate Environment, Health, Safety, and Security and by mitigating the company’s exposure to loss and liability. This position assists in the development of innovative safety and security strategies for the organization. This position also assists with conducting EHSS program audits and inspections according to applicable established audit practices; communicates audit results, develops and tracks remedial actions and action plans to promote the sustainability of the company and assure compliance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the design, development, implementation, and auditing EHSS programs designed to minimize employee exposure to workplace stressors for the ETS Facilities. These programs include but are not limited to Occupational Health and Safety programs and initiatives; Driver Safety; Workplace Violence Prevention, Environmental and Safety Permits, Security Operations, reporting and compliance, Ergonomics, Office Safety, Sustainability, and Contractor Safety.
- Serves as Security Team support and liaison.
- Assists in conducting preliminary investigations and interviews for incidents as needed
- Assist with the development, review, and updating Security policies and procedures for contract security personnel.
- Develop collaborative relationships with site staff, Facilities personnel, site leadership, and key stakeholders to integrate EHSS programs into daily activities.
- Facilitate corporate Security programs, guidelines, and policies.
- Assist with facilitation of the ETS Incident and Near Miss Reporting system, ensures communication to appropriate management, and/or implementation of necessary preventive measures.
- Development and implementation of the Security Safety Inspection Program and the Security Information Protection Program
- Demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects/tasks, effectively prioritizing tasks, communicating project/task status, and ensuring timely closure of assignments and CAPAs.
- Conducts periodic security assessment, audits, and surveys.
- Assist with management of Security for large outdoor/indoor events.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures and plans to ensure continued facility and organizational compliance and excellence.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor EHSS programs to ensure compliance with regulations, Corporate Policies, and SOPs, ability to write related procedures, as well as incorporate continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain the Security Services SharePoint
- Assist with the development of the ETS Contractor Safety program.
- Coordinate incident investigations, review of audit results/CAPAs, and provide insight to assist in root cause determination and actions to reduce repeat incidents.
- Maintain all safety records and exposure monitoring and generate reports as required.
- Assist with development of safety and security related objectives, standards, and programs for compliance with new and changing regulatory (OSHA, IBC, etc.) and company requirements.
- Manage the Evacuation Coordinator Program.
- Assist with conducting safety and security training sessions as required by ETS EHSS standards as well as federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Participate in evacuation, Shelter in Place (SIP), and other evacuation activities as needed.
- Implement Workplace Violence prevention initiative
- Manage New Employee Orientation program.
- Maintain OSHA logs for ETS Sites and prepare OSHA surveys.
- Liaison with contract security personnel and contract account manager.
- Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the position requirements and functions.

Experience and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Four-year college or advanced degree in environment, health, security, or safety. Board certification in one or more aspects of these disciplines is preferred.
- New Jersey SORA certification preferred.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in an EHSS technician or specialist role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface and collaborate with employees and senior leadership.
- Understanding of finance principles, budgeting processes, and prioritizing resources.
- Successful implementation and hands-on direction of EHSS issues in operating facilities and business functions that support divisional projects.
- Proven ability to facilitate proactive programs with the judgment and skill to implement in a timely fashion is critical. Requires proven leadership ability with good interpersonal skills to effectively respond to emergencies, rapidly changing situations, deadlines, or working conditions.
- Ability to work independently and with all levels of leadership and diverse employee populations to develop effective EHSS programs is essential. A self-directed individual with the ability to lead and work with multi-functional teams throughout the business unit is required. Requires some decision-making ability in situations with uncertainty.
- Affiliation and/or membership in safety and security professional organizations for the purpose of networking.
- Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if required.
- Working knowledge of common business software and communication applications (including Microsoft Office, camera/building access systems).
- Must be adaptable to change and accept additional responsibilities.
- Ability to influence change and facilitate an energized safety culture within the ETS organization.
Governmental regulation knowledge
Knowledge of federal, state and local security regulations in order to ensure ETS compliance with standards and regulations.
Management of security, safety and environmental activities
Ability to coordinate and monitor the safety and security activities of ETS.
Communication proficiency
Skill and professional and interpersonal communication sufficient for interaction with internal staff and external clients and customers to provide for management of potential and actual hazards.
Understanding and management of disaster recovery programs
Skill and ability to coordinate disaster recovery plans in cooperation with officers and management.
