Our education program strives to provide specialized, high quality educational programming for students with and without disabilities across Western New York. Our programs serve Pre-K through 12th grade students in 6 schools, with a focus on blending academic and social emotional support to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Pay Range:
$18.85 - $23.00/hour, based on applicable experience

Job Summary:
The Teacher-Preschool works in collaboration with the Special Education Teacher to provide quality education to preschool students in an integrated preschool classroom.
Essential Job Duties:
Creates an educational climate that promotes success, independence, a productive atmosphere, and provides students with encouragement, safety and stimulation.
Demonstrate adequate knowledge of: subject matter, an ability to think critically, developmentally appropriate practices that encourages the physical, social, and cognitive development of each child.
Create, implement and share effective behavior management techniques or plans.
Assists in the maintenance and completion of the student’s cumulative records.
Complete Quarterly Progress Reports on all students that are distributed to parents.
Maintain client confidentiality within HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelines.
Assists in planning schedules, lesson plans, room arrangements and materials.
Communicates effectively with parents (through daily notes, notebooks, phone calls, conferences, etc.) as needed.
Participates in parent-teacher conferences.
Participates in team meetings.
Assists in planning monthly activities that demonstrate a commitment to encouraging family connections.
Assists in the monitoring and tracking weekly/bi-weekly goal progression of students.
Assists the Special Education teacher in ensuring that each OCFS/NYS Education mandates are met with daily instruction.
Assists in the Special Education Teacher with behavior management.

Education Requirements:
Minimum Degree Required:
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field
OR
Child Development Associate credential or other office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period, and 1 year experience
OR
High School Diploma/GED with nine credits in Early Childhood Education study plan leading to an Associate’s degree and 2 years of experience
Experience:
Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years
Required License/Registration/ Certification:
Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification is required
If you are a current OLV Human Services Preschool Teacher, you will need to be certified by 3/1/2020.
Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) is preferred

Physical Requirements:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
The constant physical demand of the position is sitting.
The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
