Special Education Teacher - Self-Contained Classroom

We are seeking an experienced Special Education teacher to work with students in grades 2-5 at our school in Laurens, SC 29360. This is a full-time position.
Job Details:
- Position: Special Education Teacher

- Age group: Grades 2-5
- Caseload: Approximately 5 students with a paraprofessional
- Start date: ASAP
- End date: May 30th, 2025
- Hours: 37.5 hours/week
- Location: Laurens, SC 29360
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities
- Manage classroom behavior and create a supportive learning environment
- Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy and math skills
- Collaborate with parents, staff, and specialists to track student progress
- Utilize various teaching methods and learning technologies to enhance student understanding
- Provide mentorship and support to students, fostering their academic and social development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
- Experience working with students with disabilities, including IEP development
- Proficiency in literacy and math education
- Familiarity with behavioral therapy and applied behavior analysis techniques
- Ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
