What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant position at Educators On Call?
* The PCA will assist a SPED student or small group of students during normal school hours.
* The typical schedule is 5 days per week.
Essential Functions of this position may include:
- Records and reports appropriate data regarding academic, behavioral, and/or health information and services provided to students using the appropriate daily log.
- Assists students in using instructional materials and equipment.
- Provides verbal and/or written feedback on observations to the teacher.
- Works 1:1 with students to reinforce instructional objectives.
- Adapts activities, assignments, and/or materials as directed by the teacher to allow students to complete assignments and meet goals.
- Supports students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assists in developing appropriate social skills.
- Assists in the management and shaping of student behavioral techniques and/or positive reinforcement strategies.
- Maintains a safe learning environment for students.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Participates in staff development training programs as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher.
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of:

Requirements:
- A high school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
- At least 1 year of experience working with school-aged children (i.e. employment, volunteer, internship, student teaching, etc.)
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance (Act 34)
- Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
- Federal Criminal History Clearance (Act 24)
- CPR & First Aid Certification (not required)
*Clearances must be processed within the last 10 months*
- Hours: Full-time/10-months/Student days only Or Part-time, less than 30 hours/week
- 2022-2023 Special Education Paraprofessional Training Series must be completed with certificates of completion submitted prior to placement.
