Health Coordinator (RN or LPN)
Location: Yale University (June 26 - July 26, 2025)
Commitment: On-campus residency required for the full duration of the program.
Position Overview
EduExplora is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our residential team as Health Coordinator for the 2025 summer pre-college programs. The Health Coordinator will oversee all aspects of health and wellness for students and staff, ensuring the program operates safely and aligns with EduExplora’s mission to provide a supportive and inclusive environment. This role involves direct care, medical logistics, and close collaboration with program leadership to address any medical or safety concerns that arise. The Health Coordinator will play a vital role in maintaining a healthy and secure residential environment for high school-aged participants.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Medical Support:
- Administer first aid and provide care for minor illnesses and injuries.
- Dispense prescription medications according to physician orders and over-the-countermedications as appropriate.
- Assess medical situations and determine the need for further treatment or hospitalization.
- Chaperone students to urgent care or other medical facilities when necessary.
Health Operations:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-supplied infirmary.
- Manage medical documentation using health record systems.
- Review student health records and identify specific needs prior to the program.
- Advise and train staff on health, safety, and emergency procedures, including use of EpiPens orinhalers.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining medical records and information to ensurecompliance with licensing requirements and regulatory standards.
Emergency Response:
- Provide immediate response to health emergencies, including stabilization and coordination of emergency transport.
- Collaborate with senior staff to develop and implement emergency protocols as necessary.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Liaise with parents, program chaperones, and healthcare providers to address emerging health concerns.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants, staff, and the community.
- Communicate closely with the program leadership team to ensure health operations align with overall program goals.
Training and Advising:
- Assist with the training of residential staff on managing medical needs and ensuring health safety.
- Stay informed on the latest developments in adolescent health, particularly in response to pandemic-related challenges (e.g., COVID-19).
- Provide advice and guidance to staff regarding student health concerns, both in person and remotely when necessary.
Reports To:
The Health Coordinator reports directly to the Residential Director and Site Director and takes direction from the Assistant Residential Director as needed.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license/certificate. State-specific licensing required.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in school, camp, or healthcare settings.
- Experience in a residential setting is a plus.
- Proficiency with digital health record systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain calmness under pressure and respond effectively to medical crises.
Compensation and Benefits
- This exempt position offers a competitive salary, exceeding FLSA minimum requirements for exempt employees. Housing and three meals per day will be provided on campus during the program period.
