Organization Description:
The Edward Charles Foundation (ECF) is a growing, fast-paced, best-in-class 501c3 fiscal sponsor umbrella that operates in an ecosystem of trust and stewardship, acting as a custodian of charitable funds and overseeing 270 charitable funds and holds charitable assets including handling all the respective accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance for its change maker clients. ECF is a back-office operation of charitable funds and projects, so ECF change maker clients can do more good, and, have more impact and enjoy their philanthropic journey. ECF is entirely responsible for bill pay, ACH/Wires and checks, and bank account management, and in this high-stakes, deadline-driven capacity, we provide real-time responses and handle all client accounting needs, including monthly financial reporting (i.e. Profit & Loss), W2’s., W9’s, 1099’s, charitable receipts, etc.
Position Summary:
We seek a hybrid Accountant to join our fun, hardworking and dynamic team who is committed to providing an incredible client experience to our valued clientele in handling every aspect of accounting, bill pay, and end-of-month financials. This role offers an incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and develop excellent client-facing skills. This role requires excellent trust-building with clients, team members, and partners. You must endeavor daily to go beyond the normal call of duty, and to be helpful (and enjoy being helpful), upbeat, informative, and responsive in providing real-time information to our valued clients. Great email communicator but also not afraid to pick up the phone and handle business. Must be able to work 9 am-6 pm PST Monday through Friday, in step with our team. No exceptions.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Monthly bank account reconciliation, 270 bank accounts
- Weekly bill pay (over 150 transactions)
- Payroll, 55 employees (and growing)
- Recording investment account activity (15 accounts and growing)
- Receiving and recording checks
- Following Procedure and being meticulous in maintaining an audit/ paper trail
- Heavy use of Google Drive & Xero Software in uploading documents
- Creating invoices and receiving payments
- Monitoring multiple credit card’s activity and merchant accounts on donation platforms such as PayPal, Stripe, Every.org, Network for Good, etc, and performing a month-end reconciliation
- Handling checks for deposit
- Being attentive to detailed requests as they relate to clients’ charitable initiatives
- Supporting team members with ad hoc tasks and special projects
- Working with outside CPA’s and other advisors, partners and vendors. (Being nice to them and helpful)

Education and Experience:
- BA in Accounting or Finance from a 4-year institution is required
- Payables experience
- Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Prior experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus, although not required
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to multi-task
- Strong knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
- Confident working independently and using the team to take initiative to guide clients through their challenges
