What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional position at Edward F. Parthum Elementary School?
This position is for an elementary 1:1 special education paraprofessional who will support an individual fourth grade student in all aspects of the school setting. The hired candidate must be willing and able to work directly with an individual student requiring additional, intensive support as outlined by an Individualized Education Program within a general education classroom. The hired candidate will assist the student directly in all settings throughout the day and will provide readily available physical and social/emotional support according to the student's needs. He/she must be an effective communicator who is able to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and other school personnel. He/she must also be reliable, punctual and committed to the full-time responsibility of serving our students. The hired candidate must be both flexible and an effective problem solver, and he/she must be able to persevere in supporting student success in a variety of circumstances.
Ideal candidates for this position will be ambitious and motivated by the opportunity to get their foot in the door as an educator, and will be eager to take on challenges and develop their capacity for serving students. This position will support an elementary school student in collaboration with the classroom teacher in a general education setting, supporting students’ basic, social and emotional needs and assisting the student in developing relevant academic and social skills.
The school day at the Parthum Elementary is 7:45 a.m.-2:55 p.m. Paraprofessional hours are 7:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Daily attendance is critical.
