What You'll Do:
At Edward Jones, the Wealth Management Planning and Discovery development team is responsible for integrating with and extending a vendor-based financial planning tool. The system will be used by 20,000 Financial Advisors to help clients in their financial planning needs. The system will also be integrated with various cloud and in-house applications to achieve the best users experience for the end users.
As a Java Engineer III, you will be responsible for working closely with your delivery team where you will help gather business requirements, design, develop, and deliver new and enhanced features to our branches and clients. You will also be working with other teams and vendors to integrate applications and services between EJ and external SAAS solutions.

What You'll Do:

As a Java Engineer III, you will be responsible for working closely with your delivery team where you will help gather business requirements, design, develop, and deliver new and enhanced features to our branches and clients. You will also be working with other teams and vendors to integrate applications and services between EJ and external SAAS solutions.
Here are a few of the key responsibilities you will be a part of:
- Working with the agile product team and being part of MVP deliveries.
- Providing high-quality solutions by coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining programs. Developing and modifying moderately complex information systems involving most phases of systems analysis and programming.
- Analyze, code, test, and document programs and enhancements.
- Optimize application performance for maximum speed and scalability
- Conduct code walkthroughs to assure the quality of programs developed by other associates.
- Provide ongoing system support and participate in the team’s on-call support rotation.
- Work closely with the support team, delivery manager , and product owners to address incidents and problem queues, ensuring proper prioritization.
- Mentor entry and mid-level developers

***Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.***
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience in java software development, including:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues and their implications for projects and business decisions, facilitate discussion and resolution of problems, and mentor other associates.
- Expert level in at least one of the following environments: gaining understanding in other environments. Environments may include the following, plus the ability to interface with one or more database platforms:
- Web Application Development
- Client Application Development
- Mainframe Online and/or Batch Development
- Enterprise or solution specific purchased software
- Understand infrastructure architecture – networks, productivity tools, operating systems – and provides input to leaders about the impact of these components
What Could Set You Apart:
- Experience or training in the AGILE project management methodology
- Experience with Kafka and Mongo Atlas
- Knowledge of financial services industry
