What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent Level 1 (San Diego) position at Edwards Construction Group?
Edwards Construction Group, a leading construction firm specializing in public works construction, is seeking a Superintendent Level 1 to join our team.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of bringing in projects on-time and on-budget in the 1 million to 5 million range. The Superintendent Level 1 will report to the General Superintendent or supervise a smaller project with medium General Superintendent oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Work to resolve onsite questions quickly to keep the project moving. Document delays and push for answers.
- Comfortable in Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings, on their own or with a Project Manager (PM).
- Notify PM and General Superintendent of cost and delay impacts quickly to not slow progress.
- Maintain complete Daily Logs, 3-week look ahead schedule, digital as-builts, meeting minutes, observations, punch list, T&M logs, and Inspection Requests daily as required.
- Communicate important items from logs (above) to PM and Gen. Sup. Especially if related to schedule or money impacts.
- Comfortable using Request for Information (RFI) and Potential Change Order (PCO) logs for review. Speak up in OAC meetings as needed.
- First one to arrive, last one to leave.
- Somewhat comfortable navigating a Building Information Modeling (BIM) model and Trimble Connect.
- Schedule all trades early as to not impact the schedule.
- Coordinate and verify the accuracy of onsite work with trades and Inspector.
- Keep a safe and organized site. Perform weekly safety meetings, Superintendent Weekly Check-ins.
- Building relationships with clients, inspectors, and other trades.
- Fights to meet our budget and schedule and protects ECG from back charges or Liquidated Damages. Negotiates scope gaps.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in public works construction.
- General building knowledge, familiar with some trades and Public Works construction.
- Learning iPad skills.
- Learning how to use Procore and the basic tabs. Commitments, Daily Log, Drawings, Photos, Specs.
- Learning about the RFI, PCO, CCD process.
- Learning to schedule and coordinate trades. Learning 3-week lookahead and basic scheduling process.
