Overview
We are looking for a motivated General Laborer to assist with excavation and underground utility work on commercial job sites. This role is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and a willingness to support the team in a variety of tasks, including trenching, pipe installation, backfilling, and site cleanup.
Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and maintaining safe work zones, including barricades and signage
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging trenches, grading, shoveling, and compacting soil
- Support crews with installation of water, sewer, and storm drain pipes
- Operate basic hand tools and small equipment such as plate compactors or jumping jacks
- Ensure trenches and excavation areas are properly sloped, shored, or shielded as needed
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Follow instructions from supervisors and co-workers
- Monitor for safety hazards and report concerns immediately
- Assist with traffic control duties when needed
Experience
- Prior experience in excavation or underground utilities is preferred but not required
- Must be physically capable of performing demanding work in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites
- Willingness to work overtime as required by project demands
- Basic understanding of trench safety and general construction practices
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus
- CDL is a plus, but not required
