What are the responsibilities and job description for the SAW FILER position at EDWARDS WOOD PRODUCTS?
Direct, coordinate and perform a variety of saw sharpening operations to include precision smoothing, sharpening, polishing, grinding, hammering and re-tipping of metal band, round saws and chipper knives. Extreme caution must be given to safety in handling of all saws during the automated and hand applications process.
SPECIFIC DUTIES BY AREA:
1. Excellent attendance.
2. Excellent hand/eye coordination.
3. Thorough knowledge of saw sharpening equipment and procedures.
4. Good judgement in determining various methods and procedures in correcting and maintaining proper yield from saws and knives.
5. Maintain safe work area and conditions to include proper handling of cylinders, grinders and chemical storage tank and all other equipment.
6. Direct, assist and perform saw changes on band saws and other as needed while keeping safety as a top priority.
7. Maintain and coordinate incoming and outgoing of EWPI saw and knife sharpening needs.
8. Follow prescribed EWPI safety rules and regulations, keep area clean and in an orderly fashion.
9. Direct and coordinate (based on demand usage) normal and overtime hours needed to eliminate downtime in saw department.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
