Position Summary: Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Girls Flag Football Coach is responsible for organizing, administering, and upholding the philosophy of the sport. The Coach is dedicated to the personal development of each player, helping them achieve a high level of skill while fostering discipline, sportsmanship, and an appreciation for the game. The coach must also support athletes in building self-esteem and a competitive nature, while promoting leadership skills. The Assistant Coach will assist in guiding students through these objectives and contribute to the overall success of the program.
Key Responsibilities:

Coaching & Player Development:
- Plan and conduct daily practice sessions focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
- Teach athletes techniques specific to flag football and explain the use of apparatus and equipment.
- Observe players during practices to identify and correct mistakes.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and sportsmanship-driven team culture.
- Develop leadership skills among athletes and instill ethical behavior and sportsmanship.

Game Organization & Safety:
- Organize and coordinate games, including home and away matches, ensuring proper preparation and logistics.
- Supervise practices and games while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Organize and conduct competitions and tournaments.
- Teach proper methods for keeping score during games.

Academic & Athlete Support:
- Track the academic progress of student-athletes weekly and ensure adherence to school and IHSA regulations for eligibility.
- Communicate with students, parents, and school administration about academic expectations and eligibility.
- Promote a balanced focus on health, nutrition, exercise, and the importance of academics for student-athletes.

Communication & Coordination:
- Participate in seasonal athlete/parent orientation meetings and pre-season meetings to inform all parties of team rules and school/IHSA regulations.
- Build positive working relationships with other coaches, supporting other teams and programs as needed.
- Assist in the coordination of fundraising activities, ensuring compliance with school district policies.
- Maintain communication with parents, school, and other coaching staff to support team success.

Administrative Responsibilities:
- Ensure all athletes complete required forms before participation, including participation forms, fees, eligibility, physicals, and transfer requests.
- Help with the maintenance and inventory of equipment, submitting requests for replacements or repairs to the Athletic Director.
- Participate in the preparation and submission of equipment requests within one month of the season's end.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in playing or coaching flag football or a similar sport is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop athletes both on and off the field.
- Knowledge of flag football rules, strategies, and effective teaching methods.
- Must pass all background checks required by the school district.
Certifications & Requirements:
- Appropriate certification as required by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) to include:

American Sport Education Program (ASEP) or

National Federation of State High Schools (NFHS)

Certification in CPR/First Aid.
