Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Technician to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to participate in diverse project activities, including system troubleshooting, fieldwork, document review, and collaboration with clients, contractors, and subcontractors. With a focus on technical excellence and teamwork, the Technician will play a key role in ensuring successful project outcomes while gaining valuable hands-on experience in building systems and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning, scheduling, and coordinating project activities such as commissioning and O&M training meetings.
  • Review design documents, submittals, reports, and O&M strategies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct site visits to assess system functionality, evaluate energy efficiency, review installations, and witness startup and commissioning testing.
  • Perform research, data collection, data analysis, and cost estimation tasks.
  • Develop checklists, test procedures, reports, and presentations.
  • Support troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and develop solutions to system issues.
  • Direct support staff, subcontractors, and contractors in system testing and related activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers to document work and communicate results and recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EEI staff, clients, subcontractors, designers, and contractors.
  • Organize and manage project documentation to ensure smooth project workflows.



Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in at least one of the following: testing, adjusting, and balancing; controls; MEP and control system design; energy auditing; commissioning; retro-commissioning; and/or construction.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, energy management principles, and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Proven problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Flexibility to travel (local and out-of-state) and work overtime as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform field tasks in existing buildings and construction sites.


Desired:

  • Associate degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical certifications or licenses from organizations such as USGBC (LEED AP), AABC, NEBB, TABB, or BCxA.
