Job Description – Nurse
Nurse
EF High School Exchange Year is seeking RNs or LPNs to work with international high school exchange students at its Welcome Days program held on the EF Academy campus in Thornwood, NY.
Welcome Days is a place where students can prepare and grow in confidence and excitement as they begin their exchange experience. Welcome Days provides participating exchange students with a memorable New York City experience, valuable communication skills, and strong bonds with other exchange students before they embark on their high school exchange year.
The ideal candidate:
- Has a desire to work with international exchange students, ages 14-18
- Has experience working in a summer camp or school atmosphere
- Has a high emotional intelligence and empathy
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Is an exceptional team-player and enjoys working with dynamic colleagues
- Is able to be present for activities held across campus as needed
- Is enthusiastic with a sense of humor, positive attitude, patience, and is flexible
- Familiarity with EF High School Exchange Year is preferred, but not required
Welcome Days is broken up into six separate sessions as detailed below:
- Session 1: July 16 – July 19
- Session 2: July 23 – July 26
- Session 3: July 30 – August 2
- Session 4: August 6 – August 9
- Session 5: August 13 – August 16
- Session 6: August 20 – August 23
High School Exchange Year is looking for candidates who can commit to one of the three session groups in its entirety: group 1 (sessions 1-2), group 2 (sessions 3-4) or group 3 (sessions 5-6). Nurses would be expected to arrive two days before the start of their first session to prepare and get settled on campus.
Responsibilities:
Welcome Days Nurses provide basic health services (headaches, sprains, splinters, etc.) as needed to students during the program. For more serious situations, nurses will refer students to an urgent care clinic for treatment and staff will arrange for the student to be transported. Nurses will report to the on-site EF Student Support Specialist to share student updates, needs, and more. Nurses will generally be stationed in their office during the day, though will also be expected to be present for various on and off-campus student activities; this includes accompanying students to New York City. This position requires early morning and late evenings.

Requirements and Compensation
Compensation for this role is $2,500 per group of sessions ($1,250 per session) . A Nurses work week will be from Tuesday to Saturday and will be on-call while students are on campus. Room and board are provided; nurses must reside on campus while on-call. EF will make travel arrangements or reimburse for mileage for Nurses’ travel to campus.
Qualified candidates must have an up-to-date nursing license valid in the state of New York; qualified candidates with a valid license in another state may be eligible for reimbursement for licensing in New York. All staff must complete two online training modules to familiarize themselves with the EF High School Exchange Year program prior to arriving on campus.
