Curriculum Manager

Reports Directly to: Academic Director

Reports to: Executive Director, Director of Academic Management, North America

Works closely with: Academic Manager, Academic Coordinator, UP Manager, and other Academic Administrative roles

This is a salaried Academic Administrative position, composed primarily of administrative duties, however, teaching/training is also an integral component of the position. As a salaried position, you are entitled to vacation, medical/dental benefits, and enrollment in the 401K program.

Minimum Requirements for position: M.A. in TESOL, or related field preferred, 3-4 years of teaching experience preferred. Teachers with extensive experience in communicative teaching methods are sought. The final selection is made by the Academic Director.

Larger schools may employ a Curriculum Manager to help manage the Academic programs, particularly the quality and delivery of lessons. The duties of the Curriculum Manager focus on the lesson quality for students, through training and development of the teaching team. The Curriculum Manager reports to the Academic Director and does not make final hiring decision, however, is integrally involved in the process. The Curriculum Manager may also be employed as a teacher for smaller schools.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist the Academic Director with program management, teacher evaluations, and planning
• Assist and/or deliver Academic Orientations for students, including administering Speaking Evaluations
• Train new Academic staff, both teaching and non-teaching staff
• Provide regular professional development for teaching staff
• Create Academic related documents, including calendars, syllabus, lesson plans
• Design, oversee the implementation of Advanced Diploma syllabi
• Uphold program policies among Academic staff by reviewing lessons plans, Weekly Schemes of Work, and observing classes
• Assist in the administration of special Academic programs, including Advanced Diploma, Cambridge preparation, and TOEFL classes
• Counsel students on Academic issues
• Help to advise teachers on curricular issues
• Assist/Oversee with the running of special projects and/or events, i.e. specialized or customized programs designed for individual/groups of students based on information from Sales/School Administration and regularly scheduled academic-focused events throughout the calendar year
• Take inventory of and manage access to both EF-produced materials and non-EF materials for use in classes by teachers and students
• Teaching duties as required or deemed appropriate/necessary by Academic Management
• Other duties as assigned/necessary
