Position Description
TITLE: Financial Literacy Advocate
DEPARTMENT: Marketing
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Business Development
SUPERVISES: N/A
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Purpose:
The Financial Literacy Advocate is a dynamic leadership role responsible for building and strengthening relationships with schools, community organizations, and other local stakeholders to deliver impactful financial education programs for youth and adults. This position will promote financial literacy within our field of service while enhancing the credit union’s visibility and reputation. The Financial Literacy Advocate will also serve as a partner and back up for business development activities led by the Vice President of Business Development. The Financial Literacy Advocate will be a key player in promoting the credit union’s visibility, engagement, and value proposition in our field of service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate financial education programs for youth and adults.
- Build, strengthen, and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to deliver workshops, seminars, and resources focused on financial literacy.
- Acts as the credit union’s representative at education-focused events and initiatives to promote financial wellness.
- Lead the credit union’s partnerships with Junior Achievement, Bank On Baton Rouge, Jump$tart, and other financial education partners.
- Serve as a credit union ambassador at chamber, school, and community events.
- Actively seek new opportunities to expand the credit union’s presence and member base through impactful community involvement.
- Back up Vice President of Business Development for member acquisition efforts.
- Assist with presentations, promotions, and other initiatives to increase the credit union’s reach in the business community.
- Increase awareness of the credit union’s products, services, and mission through effective community engagement.
- Provide support to the Marketing Department as needed.
- All other job duties as assigned.
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Educational Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a credit union or banking environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, education or related field. 5 years of experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
- Strong understanding of sound financial principles needed.
- Public speaking and presentation abilities are a must.
- Knowledge of credit union operations, procedures, products, and services preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with diverse audiences.
- Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate with a team.
- Flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
- Must pass all credit and bond requirements.
