About the Role: We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Restorative Practices Coach to join our team and help create a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment for students and staff. In this short term, project based role, you’ll work closely with educators, administrators, and students to introduce and implement restorative practices that build community, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships across the school community in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and Passaic, NJ.
We are seeking a culturally competent individual who understands the importance of creating an inclusive environment that values and respects diversity. You’ll be leading professional development workshops for both staff and students, supporting educators in applying restorative practices, and ensuring successful implementation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by empowering educators and helping students feel heard, valued, and connected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Professional Development Workshops (11 days total, 4 hours per day in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and 20 days in Passaic, NJ).
- Facilitate workshops for educators, counselors, and district leadership teams over the course of 11 days.
- Provide both proactive and reactive restorative practices, including the use of restorative circles, conflict resolution strategies, and community-building activities that help foster a supportive and inclusive school culture.
- Lead Student Workshops (11 days total, 2 hours per day in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and 20 days in Passaic, NJ).
- Lead 11 days of student workshops, each consisting of 2 hours per day, focused on using restorative practices to promote emotional recovery from interpersonal harms.
- Engage students in restorative circles and teach social-emotional learning principles to help foster stronger relationships and create a positive school climate.
- Provide ongoing implementation support.
- Support educators by providing group coaching sessions.
- Teach restorative practices, troubleshooting challenges, and ensuring practices are applied effectively in classrooms.
- Measure success and provide feedback.
- Assess restorative practices being implemented, provide actionable feedback to teachers and school leaders.
- Track progress through data, ensuring restorative practices are having the intended impact on school culture.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Clinical licensure (such as LCSW, LPC, or related credentials) or restorative practices certification are preferred.
- Extensive experience working in K-12 settings and are well-versed in restorative practices.
- Experience leading restorative circles, workshops, and helping educators integrate restorative practices into their classrooms.
- Effective and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators to improve school culture.
- Commitment to social-emotional learning and cultural competence.
