Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Technician to join our team in Harvey, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health and be comfortable working in a locked unit environment. This role requires hands-on experience in crisis management and patient care, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals receiving treatment.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assist patients in a locked behavioral health unit, ensuring a secure and structured environment.
- Perform vital sign checks and document patient conditions, responding promptly to any medical or behavioral concerns.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques to effectively manage crises and prevent escalation of aggressive behaviors.
- Apply 4-point restraints when necessary, following all safety protocols and facility guidelines.
- Support patients in their daily activities, fostering a therapeutic and recovery-focused atmosphere.
- Assist in leading group therapy sessions and encourage patient participation in therapeutic programs (preferred).
Requirements:
- 1 year of experience in behavioral health
- BLS certification - required
- CPI certification - Preffered
- Experience working in a locked unit is required, with familiarity in handling high-risk patient situations.
- Proficiency in vital signs, 4-point restraints, and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Master’s degree and experience leading group therapy sessions preferred, demonstrating leadership in patient engagement.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
