Sterile Processing Technician

Overview
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare environment by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use. Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
• Inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness before packaging for sterilization.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of sterile supplies and equipment.
• Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ensure proper functioning through routine checks.
• Follow safety standards and infection control procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for procedures.
• Document all sterilization processes accurately in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in sterile processing.

Requirements

• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile processing procedures is essential.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is highly desirable.
• Experience in inventory management within a healthcare setting is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow complex instructions accurately.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician from an accredited program is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level positions.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
