What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse/ Mental Health Counselor position at Effingham County Probation?
Job Summary
The counselor is responsible for providing direct client service, including individual, group, and/or family therapy. The therapist collaborates in an interdisciplinary setting with other clinicians, Problem Solving Court Team Members and Probation Officers to provide comprehensive treatment to the client and his/her family.
Duties
- Implement and coordinate clinical services; monitor and evaluate individualized treatment plans for those clients assigned to her/his caseload
- Conduct assigned group therapy sessions
- Collaborate with staff and community professionals including physicians, medical personnel, therapists, social workers, and community agencies in coordinating client care services and maintaining continuity of care
- Identify, support, and evaluate clinical quality of services provided; completes assigned studies, audits, and ongoing monitoring of performance indicators
- Participate in client case conferences
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Maintain clinical records in compliance with SUPR standards
- Support quality assessment/peer review activities
- Maintain at all times the confidentiality of proprietary information and any client’s or employee’s medical, financial, or personal information, records, and data to which there is access
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of current clinical practice, strategies, and developments through participation in his/her professional organization; attending related continuing education; and reviewing the literature
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Minimum qualifications include CADC certification (supervision to obtain certification is available). Preference given to Masters Level Therapist (Social Worker; Professional Counselor; Marriage and Family Therapist)
- Current licensure (or must be eligible to obtain licensure) to practice within his/her clinical profession in the state of Illinois
- Additional specialization/training/certification in Trauma and Cognitive Based Therapy (FFT, MST, MRT) preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory standards governing care delivery and operations
