Full Time and Part Time: Uncertified $18.09 P/H - Certified $20.76 P/H
The primary function of the Effingham County Sheriff’s Jail Division is the receiving, processing, and, housing of individuals charged with felony and/or misdemeanor criminal violations. Those individuals that are unable to make bond remain in custody until they appear in court.
The secondary function is the housing of sentenced inmates. Some inmates are sentenced to serve time for misdemeanor offenses (less than 1 year) and remain in the county jail for the duration of their sentence. Inmates that receive a court sentence of more than 1 year are considered inmates of the Georgia Department of Corrections and remain in the county jail until they may be received by a facility of the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, booking of new intakes, release of inmates leaving the facility, processing fingerprints, operate a computerized control tower while supervising inmate housing units, supervising meal distribution, supervising housekeeping and weekly hygiene supply distribution, move inmates within the jail facility, conduct headcounts and security checks of the facility, complete various reports and forms as required.
Training for non-certified personnel will be provided for the 2 week (80 hour) Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Jailer Certification. This training will be provided within 6 months of hire.
Salary : $18 - $21
