The Equity is an independent ag cooperative headquartered in Effingham, Illinois and has over 500 employees. Our market area currently includes 22 locations and covers central Illinois and southwest Indiana. The Equity has five divisions including: Agronomy, Grain, Feed & Livestock, Energy, and two Retail Stores, plus a Precision Agronomy dealership as well as a cutting-edge drone sprayer business. Reports to: Location Manager

Salary: $20-$26/hour

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Leadership Characteristics:

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field is preferred. An agricultural background with experience in agri-business involving agronomy and the marketing of crop production inputs to current and new customers.
• CCA certified preferred
• Must be able to obtain an Illinois Commercial driver’s license (CDL)
• Must be able to obtain a commercial pesticide license with required endorsement for these licenses
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Possess a self-motivating personality as well as team building skills

Key Responsibilities:

1. Utilize the company’s accounting software and seed ordering software to process and maintain seed orders

2. Obtain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the company’s seed products and programs as well as those of our competitors

3. Responsible for calling on customers in territory for the sales of all seed and other crop inputs

4. Stay current with changes in the agricultural industry particularly technology and farming practices and lead progressive changes in order to provide profitability to our customers.

5. Assist in planting and harvesting test plots

6. Assist and coordinate field day activities

7. Understand and be able to explain the company’s stock/patronage structure

8. Continue to seek on-going training and educational opportunities as directed by location manager

9. Follow all established personnel and safety policies and procedures

Work Environment: Nature of business sometimes requires extended hours.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies up to 50 pounds.

Travel: The employee may be required to travel to other locations, conferences, educational opportunities, and other job-related activities.
