Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Nursing, the Director of Surgical Services provides leadership, direction, and oversight of the operating rooms and assigned procedural areas in accordance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Lead to continuous quality and process improvement initiatives and ensure a balanced scorecard in clinical areas, including quality of care and service, staff and physician satisfaction, and financial performance and growth.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program. Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
Formal Training: Must have significant years of effective management experience in a Surgical Services setting. Other combinations of formal education, training, and experience may be considered. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, managerial, and computer skills.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain an unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Georgia and have and maintain BLS and ACLS CPR certifications. Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred
Work Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive perioperative services experience or perioperative nursing management experience with increasing administrative responsibility and authority.
