JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Staff RN (Surgical Services), will plan and supervise the nursing care administered to meet patient care needs in surgery, and provide physicians with optimal services, and delivers perioperative care to surgical patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast pace and dynamic environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Requirements
Minimum Level of Education : Education level equivalent to completion high school, and a graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Formal Training : A degree in nursing from an accredited program.
Licensure, Certification, Registration : Must have and maintain an unencumbered State of Georgia RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. ACLS / PALS required within 90 days of date of hire. CNOR Certification is preferred.
Work Experience : Six months to one-year related experience and / or training in an OR setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Tools and Equipment Used : Calculator, personal computer & spreadsheet, telephone, facsimile machine, paper shredder, copier, printer, general office equipment.
Schedule : 4 - 10-hour shifts / week; Monday - Friday; no scheduled cases on weekends or holidays; Modified On-call schedule (Monday thru Friday only).
