What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate position at Effingham Homes?
Effingham Homes is looking for a friendly and creative full-time sales team member! This position is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented, energetic person to help our customers buy a new home. Sales experience and/or construction knowledge is a plus - but not required if this industry excites you and you are willing to learn!
A bit about Effingham Homes…
We are a family-operated company that has been in business for almost 25 years. We specialize in designing and building homes (manufactured, aka HUD homes and modular homes) typically on private property from start to finish, and most projects include property development, foundations, setting homes, and even garages and porches. If you understand how significant buying a home is for most people and truly want to help them - this position may be the job for you!
We are looking to hire someone who:
- Is comfortable working with the public
- Is computer literate
- Works well without supervision
- Presents an upbeat, flexible attitude
- Possesses organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Maintains professional and courteous communication, both written and verbal, at all times
The primary responsibilities include the following:
- Greeting customers that come to tour our homes and learn about what we offer in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner
- Providing answers to common questions about Effingham Homes and the service we provide in addition to providing the customer with the materials that will help them begin the home building process with us!
- Serves as primary contact for the customer throughout the entire home-buying process
- Converts a potential customer into a buying customer by tuning into their specific needs
- Ability to keep up to date with various home styles, specifications, and finishes available as provided by the factories
- Works with each client to spec out all requirements for the home (size, configuration, finishes, appliances, accessories, and so on)
- Works with our manufacturers’ representatives to get estimates and purchase orders written up to the satisfaction of customers and Effingham Homes
- Collaborates with our foreman and service crew to establish, provide and/or schedule any activities necessary to meet project completion dates, including all utility and access requirements, as well as other components of the project such as garage, deck, porches, etc., for where and when the home will be delivered and finished.
- Other responsibilities may include decorating, cleaning display homes, and light office cleaning
In this position, the main focus is helping to design new homes for our customers. Many floor plans are available from our manufacturers, but all must be customized to meet the customers’ needs. A room may need to be enlarged, cabinetry added, windows and doors moved, etc. An eye for detail and an ability to hear our customers’ needs is necessary to succeed in this position.
It is important to note that no two days are the same… this position is as unique as the homes we build!
This team member will use computers, Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Excel, and Word), customer management software (ACT), and social media daily.
ACT - our customer management software is used to:
- Track all communication (meetings/calls/emails) between Effingham Homes and every potential customer, as well as past and current customers
- Keep records, schedule, and maintain all future activities between Effingham Homes and the customer to maintain communication and timely follow-ups
Work Schedule:
- We are open Monday through Saturday and are closed on Sundays
- This position requires 40 hours/week.
- This position permits employees to have Sundays off, while the additional day off is generally flexible. However, it is requested that it be scheduled in advance and should fall on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of each week.
- Must commit to working most Saturdays, except for one Saturday per month. The specific Saturday off is typically scheduled a month in advance, with some flexibility.
Benefits include:
- Paid Time Off
- Company-Matched IRA
- Hourly rate plus commission
