Position Summary:
The Manager of Financial Reporting and Analysis is a critical role within the merchandising department, responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of sales and margin performance across our products and network of convenience stores. This role will provide key insights into business trends, drive performance analysis, and support strategic decision-making within EG America’s retail and food divisions. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of financial reporting principles and experience in the retail or convenience store industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and margin reporting process, ensuring accuracy, adherence to deadlines and budgets.
2. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track sales performance, gross margin, and other relevant metrics.
3. Analyze sales and margin trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing actionable insights to management.
4. Prepare detailed variance analysis, explaining deviations from budget and prior periods.
5. Collaborate with store operations, merchandising, and other departments to gather data and understand business drivers.
6. Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of sales and margin reporting.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
8. Respond to ad-hoc requests for sales and margin data and analysis.
9. Drive the annual budget process.
10. Assist in the development and implementation of new reporting systems, software, and tools.
11. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in financial reporting.

INTERNAL: Within Marketing: Direct and Indirect Reports; Advertising Team; POS/Price Book Team; Merchandising/Planogram Team Within Store Support Center: IT Department; Legal Department; Strategic Sourcing; Finance Team; Supply Chain/Warehouse Team, Retail Operations Team: Retail Vice President’s; Regional Manager’s; District Manager’s, Store Managers
EXTERNAL: Direct Vendors, Brokers, Distributors (especially for DSD categories)
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, data science, business analytics, or finance required
Preferred Education:
CPA or MBA preferred
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial reporting for a retailer at scale, with a focus on retail sales and margin analysis
Preferred Experience:
Experience in the retail or convenience store industry strongly preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Expertise and fluency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups).
- Experience with financial reporting systems (e.g., ERP systems).
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Other Requirements:
Travel: Ability to travel independently 5%.
Hours & Conditions: Monday – Friday 8 hour day in office setting
Physical Requirements: Ability to maneuver and regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
