EHC is currently looking for a Superintendent for a client located in Lake Charles, LA.
POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Superintendent is committed to supporting our client by overseeing and managing all on-site activities during construction project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications by coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, maintaining safety standards, and resolving any issues that arise on the job site; essentially acting as the primary point of contact on the construction site to ensure smooth operation and project success.
LOCATION
This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Coordinate with Field Supervision and Subcontractors to plan / support construction schedules.
- Responsible for quantity take-off (in conjunction with Field Engineering), quantity control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for civil discipline.
- Prepare cost estimates for civil construction activities and support preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.
- Oversees tool and equipment usage on the project site.
- Manages the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools, consumables, equipment, and servicing of equipment ensuring that the craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive.
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
- Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure civil materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.
- Hire, motivate, and lead a high-performing team through coaching, top-tier talent retention, and directed recruiting efforts.
- Supervises team, including training, providing work direction, problem-solving assistance, reviewing performance, recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, and terminations.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
At a minimum, the Superintendent must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent degree and at least 10 years of relevant civil experience with Design Build construction within concrete, structures, roads, and/or marine. In lieu of formal degree, High school diploma and at least 14 years of relevant experience. Must have at least 5 years of experience as a superintendent or other senior site role responsible for leading and managing a multi-discipline work force on a large-scale project.
