About the Role
As Kennel Manager, you will be a leader in our hospital, responsible for overseeing the well-being of our boarded pets, managing the kennel team, maintaining our facility, and delivering an outstanding client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care & Facility Management:
- Ensure daily care of all boarded animals, including feeding, walking, and monitoring their well-being.
- Observe and report any health or behavior concerns to the veterinary team.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in all kennel areas.
- Implement and uphold protocols to prevent disease transmission and ensure animal safety.
Staff Supervision & Training:
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of kennel technicians and support staff.
- Schedule staff shifts to maintain optimal coverage.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and professional development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and compassionate work environment.
Client Communication & Services:
- Provide clients with updates about their pets’ experiences.
- Oversee animal intake and discharge, ensuring all pets are clean, healthy, and ready to reunite with their families.
- Manage personal belongings (toys, leashes, blankets) to ensure proper labeling and storage.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, medication administration, and health observations.
- Manage inventory and order supplies, including food, cleaning products, and medications.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize operations.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in animal care, veterinary, or kennel management.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to recruit, train, and manage a team.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of animal care practices, behavior, and handling techniques.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with both staff and clients.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
- Administrative Experience: Familiarity with scheduling, inventory management, and record-keeping is a plus.
