The Role
EHS Support is seeking a Technical Editor and Document Specialist to support deliverable preparation, review, and production. The successful candidate will be a resourceful self-starter with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); a strong grasp of proper English grammar, punctuation rules, and sentence mechanics; and prior experience editing technical and nontechnical content. Our future team member is a detail-oriented, grammar-focused multi-tasker with the determination and drive to ensure excellence in our deliverables down to the very last page.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Review, edit, and format technical reports, proposals, and other specialized content for correct grammar, structure, clarity, and consistency.
Use advanced features of MS Word to apply styles and format new and existing documents per EHS Support templates and Style Guide.
Apply layout and formatting skills to insert figures, tables, charts, and graphics into Word documents and PDFs.
Create and format data tables, graphs, and charts in MS Excel for use in documents.
Review and format presentations in MS PowerPoint, including proofreading content on slides, inserting graphics, and modifying design, to ensure they adhere to EHS Support style and branding standards.
Collaborate with Project Managers to understand deliverable requirements, including deadlines, formats, and structure.
Follow instructions regarding document revisions, including additions and corrections to existing documents.
Convert documents to PDFs with bookmarks, tables, figures, and appendices.
Qualifications / Education
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or relevant field, including Science and Mathematics preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of related experience required.
Highly Qualified Candidates
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications or Editing
Experience proofreading documents to ensure they are free from error and verifying accuracy of information and facts
Experience in document formatting and an eye for design / presentation
Familiarity with Adobe PDF, bookmarking, table of contents generation, and linking
Familiarity with style manuals, in-text citations, and reference guidelines.
Tech-savvy with an ability to learn new software, processes, and platforms
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks appropriately
A desire to grow and expand knowledge, take on new challenges, and advance skillset
