Overview
Eide Machinery Sales, Inc., a leader in the Wood Product and Fabrication Industries since 1927, is seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator Level II to join our growing team. This role focuses on metal fabrication and repair, with opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive and innovative work environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Build and assemble metal components based on blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and alignment.
- Perform high-quality MIG welding on steel parts in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead).
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting parts to ensure they are ready for welding and minimize scrap and rework.
- Produce timely and detailed labor reports, tracking work progress, material usage, and any issues encountered during fabrication.
- Safely operate forklifts and other lifting devices for material handling, ensuring all items are properly secured and transported without damage.
- Track and maintain material usage records to ensure efficient inventory control and support future ordering of necessary supplies.
- Support shop operations by assisting with related tasks as required, including cleaning, maintenance, and setting up equipment.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety training and meetings.
- Capable of identifying area hazards and following safety requirements to mitigate risks associated with the work environment.
- Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to the success of group projects and collaborating with colleagues to meet production deadlines.
- Quality-oriented, with attention to detail, ensuring all finished products meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Utilize shop math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) in a variety of units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals) to ensure accurate measurements and fabrication.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MIG welding and steel fabrication.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment (e.g., bandsaws, Oxy/Acetylene torches).
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, lift up to 50–70 lbs, and work in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending) for extended periods.
- Drive a forklift and use lifting devices.
- High school diploma or GED; further technical education is a plus.
