Storage and Backup Subject Matter Expert

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced L3 Storage and Backup Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in storage and backup technologies, with a strong focus on troubleshooting, optimization, and ensuring the reliability and performance of enterprise-level storage and backup systems. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills, the ability to lead complex projects, and provide expert-level support to internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the highest level of escalation for troubleshooting and resolving complex storage and backup-related issues.
• Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level storage and backup solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
• Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents and provide long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Optimize storage and backup infrastructure to meet business requirements and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute storage and backup strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Monitor and maintain storage and backup systems, ensuring compliance with security and data protection policies.
• Evaluate and recommend new storage and backup technologies, tools, and best practices.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to L1/L2 support teams.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Lead disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in storage and backup technologies.
• Proven expertise in managing enterprise-level storage systems (e.g., NetApp Block, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE).
• Strong knowledge of backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik).
• Experience with cloud storage and backup solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage).
• Familiarity with SAN, NAS, RAID, and data replication technologies.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
