Child Care Center Teacher
Job Overview:
Teachers provide quality, nurturing care to students and cater to their developmental needs.
Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Be the primary caregiver for children in the classroom.
2. Be familiar with licensing requirements.
3. Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development.
4. Provide comfort and nurture to children to meet their physical, emotional needs. Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times.
5. Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, diapering, hand washing)
6. Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
7. Establish a professional relationship with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service with proper communication through Hi Mama.
8. Supervise teacher aides in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations.
9. Train any teacher aides in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day.
10. Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
11. Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends.
12. Prepare monthly and weekly lesson plans according to policy.
13. Properly change children when soiled and routinely check for soiled diapers if applicable.
14. Transition children from diaper to potty training if applicable.
15. Be responsible if applicable for daily sheets and the daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, and diaper changing.
16. Responsible for making sure classroom is ready for the next day.
17. Review lesson plan and prepare materials needed for next day.
18. Verify that children items are be labeled properly and stored.
19. Ensuring that classroom meets TRS & TSR requirements.
20. Up keeping sanitation bottles, labels, toys and lessons plans.
21. Reporting any maintenance in the classroom and out door.
22. Prior to departure for the day transfer any information required in regards to the child when regrouping to both closing teacher and office staff.
23. Always maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization.
24. Participate in projects and serve on committees.
25. Perform other duties as assigned.
Compliance & Security
1. Abide by all rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
2. Maintain records and documentation accordingly. Prepare required reports within deadlines.
3. Ensure proper housekeeping of work areas to avoid unnecessary hazards.
4. Attend required meetings and complete required training for position within deadlines.
5. Complete sufficient continuing education to maintain the knowledge level required to effectively execute the responsibility of this position.
Qualifications:
1. Be at least 18 years of age
2. Have a high school degree or equivalent education.
3. Submit to a background check through the Department of Human Health Services.
4. Be CPR & First Aid certified or obtain certification upon hire.
5. Complete a Tuberculosis test.
6. Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom.
7. Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
8. Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations
9. Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50lbs
10. Be available for full time employment and available to work as late as 6:30 pm
11. Have dependable transportation.
12. Must possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal) including solid grammar skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability preferred.
13. Proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
14. Must be a self-starter. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills required.
15. Possess the ability to give and accept instruction and the desire to oversee and assist others.
16. Must possess the ability to properly communicate with parents, management and co-workers.
