Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated STEAM Instructors to join our team. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for students. You will be responsible for running classes, supervising activities, providing guidance, and fostering personal growth among students. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about STEAM education and eager to make a positive impact inspiring the next generation.
Locations include Burlington, Andover, Arlington, Beverly, Boston, Cambridge, Lexington, Needham, and Newton. Positions usually begin with 1-2 classes per week at around 3-4 hours of commitment. Hours can grow over time, especially in the summer when it can be a full-time job if desired. Shifts normally start at 2:30-3PM on weekdays, and various times on the weekends.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage students after school and/or in weekend classes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Facilitate steam education activities.
- Serve as a role model, encouraging positive interactions and fostering a sense of community.
- Communicate effectively with students and management regarding student needs and progress.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized class environment.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to childhood development and classroom management.
Experience & Requirements
Ideal candidates will possess experience or skills in the following areas:
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with kids in grades K - 8.
- Infectious enthusiasm for fostering innovation and creativity in children's learning.
- Must be enthusiastic about STEAM including science, technology, programming, engineering, math, electronics, or digital art.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles.
- Kind, friendly, patient, and strong strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with children and adults.
- Clear and detailed communication skills.
- Comfortable working with neurodiverse children, adults, and staff.
- Obsessively punctual.
- Ability to move around a classroom for the full 1h 15m class duration.
- Able to regularly stand, walk, sit, use and reach with hands and arms, climb, and balance.
- Able to lift and move materials, up to 20 pounds, at least fifty feet.
- Reliable transportation that does not require public transportation.
- CORI, SORI, and fingerprinting will be required.
