Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Assistant to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of childhood development and have experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities. This role involves educating and guiding students, developing tailored curricula, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide direct support to students in classroom activities, ensuring engagement and participation.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social interaction and learning.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create effective teaching strategies.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to educators regarding individual needs.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a structured and safe learning environment.
- Educate students on essential life skills, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or other disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods or similar educational philosophies is a plus.
- Strong skills in curriculum development tailored to diverse learning needs.
- Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively while supporting individual student needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with students, parents, and staff.
- A passion for educating children and a commitment to fostering their growth and development.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $65.00 per hour
