Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to facilitate the learning process, ensuring that each student receives the individualized attention and resources necessary for their success. This role is essential in promoting a positive learning atmosphere and helping students achieve their educational goals.
Duties
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities tailored to the needs of students with disabilities.
- Support students in their daily activities, including personal care, behavior management, and social interactions.
- Help facilitate literacy education and early childhood education programs, focusing on developing foundational skills.
- Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Engage in behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior among students.
- Participate in training sessions related to special education practices, including Montessori methods and deaf education strategies.
Requirements
- Experience or training in special education, early childhood education, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and the ability to implement accommodations as outlined.
- Skills in literacy education and the ability to support diverse learning styles effectively.
- Experience working with toddlers or preschool-aged children is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and support staff.
- A genuine passion for working with children and helping them succeed academically and socially.
