DSP (Direct Support Professional / Personal Care Assistant)
Location: Rockaway, NJ
We are looking for a caring but firm, observant, quick-thinking, and highly organized individual to provide direct support for a severely language impaired, immunocompromised 34-year-old male. This individual will be delivering services inside the home as well as out in the community.
The DSP should be outgoing, upbeat, happy to take client on walks, willing to jump with him on a trampoline, able to do various activities with him (such as crafts, puzzles, read, swim, play basketball etc.), as well as embrace a custom program in order to teach him simple academics and life skills.
The ideal candidate will be patient, Physically active and capable of engaging in various athletic and physical activities with the young man. They must wear a KN-95 mask at all times, have a reliable vehicle to provide transportation (to programs, shopping, recreational activities, potential volunteer opportunities etc.), and be receptive to learning new strategies, so as to help the young man maintain his current level of functioning and appropriate behaviors.
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Between 10 - 20 hours per week
Shift Availability: There is potential for some Flexibility in the schedule.
- Monday 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Thursday 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Occasional weekend hours may be available
- Occasional evening hours may be available
Mandatory Requirements:
- *Must wear a KN-95, (will be provided by Customer).
- Must clear a background check and drug screening.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and reliable vehicle for transportation.
