Purpose of the Position
The Environmental Consulting Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing environmental projects from inception to completion. This role ensures projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental regulations, technical expertise in assessments and permitting, and excellent project management skills to drive successful outcomes.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Lead environmental consulting projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource allocation.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing priorities and proactively addressing challenges.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists, engineers, and field technicians, to achieve project goals.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining open communication and strong relationships.
- Prepare and present proposals, progress reports, and final project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Provide technical expertise in environmental site assessments, permitting, remediation, and impact analysis.
- Monitor project budgets, identify potential cost overruns, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
Physical activities: Typing on a keyboard; reading and verifying data, often in small print; sitting for up to 8 hours per day; talking on phone; may require visits to job sites resulting in exposure to hazards typical of a construction site
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Regular utilization of steel-toed boots, gloves, safety vests, hard hat at site visits.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, with at least 2 years in a project management role. Professional Management Certification (PMP) or relevant environmental certification (HAZWOPER, LEED, etc.).
Preferred Skill Set: Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, with at least 2 years in a project management role. Strong project management skills, including planning, organization, and problem-solving. In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance, and industry best practices. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with clients and teams. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
