Job Summary
The CT Tech operates CT scanners and other radiographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate CT scanners and other radiographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Report to Director-Radiology Services and demonstrate compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies.
- FOLLOW ALARA guidelines and use Universal Precautions in all situations.
- Utilize proper radiation protection to protect patients and others from excessive radiation.
- Obtain appropriate medical history before patient examination and prepare patients for exams.
- Document changes in patient condition using appropriate forms and contact Radiology RN or relevant personnel when necessary.
- Keep patients informed of exam procedures, any delays, and allow patients to ask questions regarding the procedure.
- Prioritize stat procedures and organize patient flow.
- Communicate with Emergency Department Physicians and Staff on patient exams, delays, concerns, and care.
- Perform CT procedures of the highest technical quality.
- Perform appropriate procedures as ordered and assist Radiologists performing procedures.
- Efficiently use all CT equipment and report deficiencies to immediate supervisors.
- Efficiently document procedures in PACS and patient charts, utilizing required forms and billing procedures.
- Prioritize procedures and utilize time wisely to complete daily workloads within scheduled shifts.
- Assist in other areas of the CT department as needed.
- Maintain flexibility in working additional shifts and/or different shifts, as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of CT rooms and surrounding areas.
- Check supplies and stock CT rooms, reporting any deficiencies.
Requirements
- Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) CT certification, California Radiologic Technologist (CRT), and American Heart Association BLS.
- Preferred: Fluoroscopy permit and experience as a Radiologic Technologist or CT Technologist.
